About Alkar Billiards and Barstools

Since 1947, our goal has been your satisfaction. Alkar was in founded by Al Karschner in Omaha, Nebraska. Al started by recovering pool tables and as the business grew, he expanded into a retail store selling pool tables and supplies under the name of “Karschner Billiards.” The problem was that nobody could spell or pronounce the name, so Al changed it to the name we know today, “Alkar.”

In 1977, Jim, who worked with Al installing pool tables for years, received the opportunity to purchase Alkar. Jim bought the business and began to expand with a wide selection of high quality pool table brands and styles, dabbled in barstools, then game tables, darts, etc.
